This is a powerful practice for starting to understand the heart and how it works. It also illuminates what obstacles there are to your heart and what is in your heart.
Relax the body as usual sitting up in lotus position or laying down. This practice is good to be done before bed as it can illuminate dreams. Begin by visualising a forest that you have found yourself in. You begin to walk through the forest until you see a clearing off in the distance and you continue on until you reach it. There you will find your temple by visualising it in the clearing. You walk towards it. You may find it has gates which you must walk through or that are locked. Allow the visualisation to flow. Walk into your temple and notice what is around you. How does it make you feel? Are there any symbolic teachings taking place? Do you become frightened by your own heart?
Continue to explore the temple. Feel the air, are you wearing shoes? What clothes are on you in your temple? You may find yourself naked after noticing something. Explore as much as you can, do not be afraid to touch things and experience them but go with your intuition on what to touch and what not to touch.
Once you have finished you will automatically open your eyes as everything has been explored.
When I did this practice for the first time I found It to. R very enjoyable. I started in a forest and walked towards the clearing where I saw my temple only a short distance from the forrest and approached it. My temple looked as if it was built from sand stone. There were no stairs except for three just before the entrance. I walked through and found myself in a bright open hall type structure. There was a chalice in the centre filled with a green elixer. For some reason this did not catch my attention too much and I looked at it briefly then walked by it. What caught my attention was the stone lions that looked like the Buddhist type of stone lion. I reached my hand out to touch one of its feet and felt a sense of fear come over me which made me wake up.
I think the lions represented the humility in my heart but I am still unsure of what the elixer meant.
This is definitely the most enjoyable visualisation I have done and recommended it to anyone who finds meditation difficult as this is quite relaxing and natural to the mind.
